Burritobot Analysis:

At the risk of causing controversy, I suspect that Casa Sanchez may be a bit too authentically down-home to make a good burrito. The food here may be better suited to the homestyle plate layout, where we are free to choose and control the mixture of ingredients with each bite. However, lovers of the burrito as a perfect, convenient, and tasty food package, will be sorely disappointed. The carne asada is bland and full of rubbery gristle, the rice and beans in gross overabudance, and the large chunks of iceberg lettuce are totally uncalled-for.

This is not to say the establishment doesn't have its saving graces. The place has undeniable charm with its sunny outdoor patio, friendly staff, and delicious chips and salsa (made famous by Bay area Safeway availability) which is packaged in-store by a sweet abuela in the corner.

I suspect there may be some killer food in others forms at Casa Sanchez, but to the mission-style burrito lover: keep cruising the 24th st. strip in search of greener guacamole. —Burrito Joe, Dragonrouge.info correspondent

"Like dinner at your abuelitas. . ."
"Now when I go into a burrito joint, I expect to stand in a big long line, place my order, look over to remind them that I'm a vegan so please no cheese or sour cream, listen for my number, and then sit down with all of the other masses. When I go to Casa Sanchez, I feel like i'm a guest in their home. They are personable, they ask me about my day. They tell me what's happening with them. It's like no other burrito place I know. The food is always good and the ingredients are so fresh. So good that I once went there before closing and the steam tables were empty, and the food was barely hot, but yet still rockin'. All I have to do is ask for a burrito and the regular afternoon guy doesn't ask me what I want, he knows-vegan, whole beans, cilantro rice, salsa, and guacamole (it even has cucumbers!), and maybe some kick ass chocolate mole if they have it. I sit down in their cute restraunt, eat my burrito and shoot the shit with the staff. Sometimes, they tempt me with flan and I forget I'm vegan. Shhh! The flan is just that perfect warm with ice cream and strawberries and a fresh carmel sauce that turns into brittle candy before your eyes.

I have converted many a El Farlito fanatic over."
