Analysis:

Consistent and inexpensive, the Pancho Villa burrito is tightly rolled and never too soggy. The salsa’s are always fresh and the lettuce crisp.

The carne asada is always prime cut and gristle chunks are rare. For the veggie, the grilled vegetable burrito leaves something to be desired (undercooked potatoes are never good). And for the seafood lover, the prawns or fish are top-notch.

The chips are pretty standard and they have an extensive variety of salsas at the condiment bar. This is a great in-and-out cafeteria-style joint that staystill 12, for those late-night hankerin's. —Jay Walker, Burritobot Correspondent

"Hit or Miss"
"Pancho Villa definitely gots its location goin for it. There's always a mob of hungry Missionites lining up around the smokey grill. The burrito is a pretty standard one, not bad, but nothing extraordinary. "

"tofu madness"
"as a veggie, i'm always looking for a good tofu creation and this place cooks something up that's a little bit more creative than a burrito without meat. the Tofu Ranchero "meat" option is worth the mess. it'a little juicy and perhaps better in their other dishes, like the enchiladas. a mission classic and an extra special treat when the mariachi's roll through."

"Best Ameri-Burrito in Town?"
"The salsa is distinct. The ingredients are top notch. But do you find the end result just slightly . . . sterile? That plus their early close time keeps this clean, cool, joint from being from 'do no wrong' status. Still, highly recommended and probably my #1 'safe + flavor' combo in the city. (The go-to for taking parents, out of town hick cousins, etc.)"

"It's Magic!"
"Granted, I come from a place where the burrito lovin' just doesn't flow so freely, so to me, every Bay area burrito is pretty special compared to my usual. I've had a lot of "ok" burritos at Pancho Villa, but one night I stumbled across the "magic" combination. The salsa verde chicken with the refried black beans... it takes "ok" up to the level of When-Harry-Met-Sally-orgasm-in-the-restaraunt. Go back and give it another try. "
