Lunchtime in the Mission on a weekday, and Taqueria Vallarta has found me. My (super) Carne Asada burrito came out quick. Too quick. Was there some psychic in the kitchen who already knew I was on my way? The first few bites were good, as the ingredient ratios were well-proportioned. A good first impression: soft, well-constructed, portable, wet (but not sloppy), a good clean wrap, and easy to eat with your hands.
An important point here: not too much rice. This is where I want to be. After a few more bites and some time to reflect, I noted that the carne asada was a bit grizzly and not of the highest caliber. The beans were good, but I detected one bean that I didn't quite trust. He was a little tough and had likely been sitting around for a while.
Salsa selection was standard; the medium green salsa was noteworthy as it had a creamy gauc-consistency, while still having a nice green-pepper bite. A nice accent to my burrito.
Overall: a good, quick burrito. My socks were still on my feet when I left Taq Vallarta, but I would likely return for another. —Matthew P. Ouellette, Burritobot Correspondent
